There's not really any "imagination" necessary. This nightmare is real.
It goes without saying that a drilling rig explosion like this one in North Dakota yesterday would be hugely catastrophic in our North Texas neighborhoods.
ReplyDelete500 feet or less from our homes and neighborhoods in Grand Prairie (multiple pad sites are in this category in Grand Prairie, TX.) The Corn Valley Pad Site sits 537 feet (measured from the wellbore) to the southern entryway to Westchester neighborhoods.
The Corn Valley Pad Site (on Camp Wisdom Road) is also less than 1/2 mile from Colin Powell Elementary School (on Carrier Parkway) and about that same distance from the Mike Moseley Elementary School (on Camp Wisdom Road).
Oh, and of course, it's 850 feet from the Joe Pool Lake Spillway and Dam.
Just a few things to keep in mind when thinking about this drilling rig explosion yesterday in North Dakota.
