The 60 Minutes Story: Sunday November 14, 2010

UPDATE 2014. As you can see, this video is no longer available on YouTube. Here's a link to a portion of it, at least. Click Here ~ Gas Drilling Horror Story on 60 Minutes(November 2010 with Tim and Christine Ruggiero.)

"You Don't Want to Drink Fracking Fluid."

  1. An explosion (as shown at about 8 minutes into the video) so close to Westchester Valley would be catastrophic to those neighbors backed up to the pad site. The 60 Minutes piece might have shown Chesapeake's Corn Valley FRAC Pond. Or one like it so close to residential neighborhoods.

Unfortunately, there wasn't much in the story about the neighborhoods that have become industrial zones so that Chesapeake can sell its gas. No "Shaleionaires" there. That's just one more tragic part of this enormously complex gas drilling issue.

Aubrey McClendon says, "accidents will happen." Yes. They will, Aubrey. And right in our back yards.
