"The horizontal well bore is longer than a vertical well, its circumference is greater, it undergoes more stress during a frack, and where it bends to go lateral, the casing is compromised. Plus cement does not adhere to shale. So they leak more than vertical wells.A horizontal well bore is four times more likely to leak than a vertical well." ~ Chip Northrup

So, an important point Mr. Northrup makes is that in really dry areas (West Texas, for example) there is very little, if any, ground water at more shallow depths. But here, in North Texas, we have a lot of ground water at shallow depths.
